Mine have been kept at 72 degrees and are doing fine but I have no comparison. They are supposed to develop faster at higher temps but they don't seem to really stop/slow down until 40-50 degrees. The warmer the better but even at 76, your colony should do fine and I don't think you'll see a difference.
Hopefully someone who had studied different locations/temps will come with more accurate information!
eta: It does seem that LIGHT has an affect as well. Dark is way better for activity....this I have seen.
