appychick ~ LOVE the thought of the chickens cleaning grasshoppers off the car. That's so cool. Mine will have stink bugs by the thousands soon but those aren't anything you want to stick in a jar or the freezer

Hi,
I've been following this thread to some degree for awhile now. I've raised meal worms off and on for some of my critters.

I was wondering what is the best way to store the wheat bran? Right now I only have a few hundred worms, and hubby got me a 5lb bag of bran. It will last awhile.

Is it best stored in the freezer or in air tight containers in a cool place.?

I put my wheat bran in the freezer, too. I only put it in there when I know I will soon be needing to use it. I leave it about 48 hours and then take it out to become room temp so I can add to the bins. I found out they really get mad if I put it in cold!
I have been using the plastic grocery bags to put in the freezer. Otherwise, the 50# bag is in the den beside the tables.

It was beetles and mealies that were running for the covers (newspapers actually!).

Beetles TOO! Oh, you are hard! That might have encouraged them to take flight if nothing else could....Running away with those insignificant little wings trying to flutter up an escape.

Just another lesson learned. Please bring substrate material to room temp following being either in the freezer or microwave. Eeeegads, if it had been hot, they would have been standing up on 2 feet tip-toeing to the newspaper island.

and how do I get this answer? i am having a hard time figuring out how to comunicate back and forth!
