MEAN broody duck - do I have to candle?

My broody duck is MEAN and I'm afraid to candle! Will it be okay to just let her go and see what hatches, or do I really have to candle? I'm not sure how to do it without suffering serious broody-inflicted injury. I never manage to catch her when she's off the nest.

I had a duck that was the same way. I would just leave her alone and wait for the surprise.

No, you dont ever have to candle. Smelling the eggs works fine for incubating. The duck will handle that for ya though.

Do NOT candle. Messing with her may result in her breaking some eggs or abandoning the nest.
Where did you get the idea that you have to candle from a broody?

I Never candle eggs, my hens do what needs to be done and I dont do a thing, so I wouldnt worry about it at all
