I have a cockerel who has horribly bad breath. This dude is a craphead, he's always trying to kill other birds. He got to my other cockerel before I did and I managed to grab him. That's when I smelt his breath. It smelled like death and decay -I almost puked.
The pics don't show it, but his tongue has a brown tinge. His throat-as far as I can see- looks normal. His crop is completely empty.

I'm not at all attached to this dude. Is there something I should be treating him for? I'm asking, because I don't believe in letting animals suffer. Even mean ones.

The first thing that comes to mind is yeast. I wonder if he isn't overloaded with it. Just thinking that the bad breath would be a digestion issue. I dealt with vent gleet with my hens once, which is a yeast problem. Does he have any diarrhea issues? Anyhow, it wouldn't hurt to give him probiotics. If it's yeast it would help. I give my flock Bobs Big ole' Bird probiotics. As a side note, egg production picked up since I started giving it to them. (Not that that added benefit would make a difference for your rooster. Lol.) Good luck!

I'm not sure if he's having diarrhea. He's a full time free ranger, so I never really can monitor his poops.

A bad odor from the beak can be a sign of canker, infectious coryza, and sour crop. I would watch his beak inside for any gunk, growths or cankers which can show up. Check his crop especially in early morning when it should be empty, to see if it is full and boggy or puffy.
