Please help. My 15 week old female mallard is really mean. Biting face, hands, feet, etc. she won’t stop. I love her dearly and want to help her. She leaves bruises and many times her bites bleed. Ty

When she does that, hold her down and press her gently to the ground so she won't be able to move. Keep her head down as well. She is most likely showing dominance and is acting aggressive if she thinks you are not acting as like she would like. You need to break that kind of behavior and become dominant yourself. Sometimes all it takes is a few seconds of duck in lock-up grip, sometimes it takes more time.

Never had the need to try that. I have one drake that is dominant towards all the duck and my dogs, but follows me around and is gentle to both ducks and people. I'm not sure about the dogs, but I think he also just tries to chase them and his bites and body checks (like in hockey) are harmless.

Tell us how it goes.

This may seem like a silly thing to ask but are you sure she's a female? Young Mallard males and females are both brown colored and look very similar for a while and it may be that you have a drake and pinching/biting is something drakes do to females usually when they want to breed, mine does it all year round. It is still possible she could just be an aggressive female, I don't know if you bought her as a sexed female. You could post a pic of her as there still are differences between their colors at this age.

At 15 weeks, the differences are already visible. If nothing else, they usually get their specific voice before week 10.
