Trial and error. Sometimes free ranging removes incentive to bully. I've also noticed that bullies and victims seem to declare a time-out when dirt bathing is involved.

I separated the bully while I designed the pen for the BFFs. Should separate the BFFs? Or just leave the bully separated? [I am sounding like an idiot, aren't I?] What do you think, @azygous?

We squirt gun our bully. It has helped significantly. We try to time it so the hen thinks the other hen did it, lol.
