I have a mean Ameracauna cross with jersey giant and He is very agressive to me and to the rest of my family. We were building our coop in our barn and he will come up,and he would spur me pretty hard!!And I wanted to ask how can I grab him or trap him so I can sell him, ect.?? He's driving me CRAZY!!

I've had him since he was a baby chick. He's never been this mean(Until three of our other roosters got killed). So I think he's mad that he's alone,Upset,Anybody know?

How old is he? I bet it's more that since the other roosters are gone, he thinks he's the big man on campus and is trying to show you who is boss!

Gotta agree with Cloverleaf. I have a dark cornish cross roo who was just fine when he was penned in with all the other boys. I decided to let him have his own harlem. The next day when I went in to collect the eggs - he attacked me from out of nowwhere. Quick moving sucker too! Completely caught me off guard. He's still breathing, but I'm thinking about selling him to the next guy that wants him for stew

Roosters are too easy to come by to keep an aggressive one.

If this one means something to you there are various "tame your rooster" methods you can try, but it seems to be completely hit or miss as to whether they will work. If he doesn't mean anything to you then he'll do wonders for a pot of chicken and rice.

.....Alan.

I agree on grabbing him when he is roosting at night. Mine get one chance at rehab before they are sent to freezer camp/auction. Usually a very firm swift kick in the behind is enough to send them running to the other side and staying plenty clear of me in the future. I had a beautiful D'uccle rooster who I couldn't break. He scratched my then toddler daughter down her face so I grabbed him by the neck.... never had another problem out of him

Amazing how a little cervical dislocation cures the worst roosters....

Some are "trainable" and just need a stiff kick in the butt and they quickly realize their place but others just need to be Dinner!(LOL) It all depends on what you want to do with him really. I've heard that they do go through the "teenage" stage and can be stinkers and then mellow out a bit latter. Or sometimes having a Bigger older roo will help keep all of the young "boys" in line. One breeder said that he has learned to always keep an old Big Rooster around and this helps keep the whippersnappers under control!

I have a Gentle Giant Cochin Roo who does a GREAT job of this! & He's a dollbaby to me & my kiddos!
