Mean Old Varmits

Lost 12 OF 13 of 2 month old cream light brown dutch last night. Heads chewed and necks chewed-- probably a rat or a weasel.

Raccoons are also known for just going after heads.

That's bad

We lost a chicken (Rhode Island Red - I think) about 5 years ago from a hawk- it was caught in the middle of the act and it took off just after it severed the head. Since then, (we have a fenced area off the chicken coop for the chickens to roam outside) we installed fencing over the top so nothing can get in, and nothing can get out, so the chickens are free to roam 24/7...

Me thinks it was racoon(s)...always kill in that manner. For some reason they do heads. UGH!

I have a tractor with run which is covered. The varmit dug under the edge of the coup part and went upstairs and killed them.
