In this case, a .22 will do. I did have a couple of disturbing cockerels that needed to be taken care of. I know its hormones, but I've had many roos that were never so much trouble. I have an EE cockerel right now that's being a bad in the flock. It's time for freezer camp soon for him & his buddies.
The leaf rake is an excellent idea until you can get a handle on the situation. Chickens (for me at least) are for food & pleasure of company. They are to be enjoyed. If they are not fun or enjoyable, what's the point? There's my 2 cents. I wish you luck!
