not just one company produce all cornish rock......calling them cornish X, leaves out the rock which we know is one ....sure its a boiler type white rock...but still white rock. Not really....An F1 is simply a cross between any two "pure breeds" For example. A black sex link is a cross of Rhode islad red and Plymouth Rocks(one scenario) Thus the Black sex link is a breed anyone could make. The cornish rock cross of any similar named bird is an F2 Hybrid. A result of 2 F1 hybrid crosses being crossed not Just 2 Breeds. You cannot make this breed at home. The genetics are highly protected by a German company namhed Hubbard ( I believe its German).

f1 and f2 really that a joke....white rock and most of today chicken have more than one breed.
f1 would be off of the jungle fowl.
well sure in actuality all the breeds have been "made" big difference being these birds are 3rd generation off spring. In other word in the commercial world there are huge chicken houses full of animals being bread just so they can be crossed with another cross to produce the broiler......yes the cornish is a part of it. yes the white rock has a part, but so do several other breeds....
The genetics are owned by one company as far as I know and just imagine the $ involve being that thoose chickens account for 99% of all chicken eaten .
We all know that the Cornish X of today is a non sustainable bird for us producers. If there was one breed that you had to raise, breed, choose some to butcher and raise and breed again, what breed would you choose?
