Meat chicken coop

Do you leave the birds in the tractor at night?
We have too many bold coyotes roaming in packs, day and night, in my area. They would eat the tractor and then the birds.

our meat pen is an 8x8x2 covered in welders wire, built with 1x1. We put a 4in. apron of the welders wire along the bottom to discourage predators/digging dogs,etc... we have a one piece tin top. it is heavy so we put four handles ( two on ea side ) so that two people could lift/slide it to new pasture. i am CERTAINLY glad it is heavy b.c. we got some crazy strong winds back in the fall and had that meaty pen been pvc...it would have been blown to alaska. you can see the apron here... hope this helps.

(it was sufficient room for 26CX ; cost was $150-200)

yes, we left the meaties in it at night. we built it crazy strong tho.... good thing, b.c. a neighbors pit dog decided to test it... the welders wire is crucial and screwing it in vs. stapling it will give more security and strength. We bought the 35 ft x36 in. welders... enough for overlaping on the top, and the 4 in apron on the bottom..... in order to get it to fit tightly around the corners you will have to wedge and bend the wire at the exact 4 in mark, cut 4 in. length at the corners so it will wrap around the pen in one continuous 32 ft length to avoid piecing the wire together in sections.

Hi-
Nice work. I have some questions about the wheels if you don't mind. Do you have a picture or can you describe how you engineered those? Also, how much would you say they assist in moving it? Your posts are greatly appreciated.
Regards-
RW

Here is two pictures of my new meatie / brooder tractor.. Had an old trampoline frame cut in half and welded it up. Some guineas and Leghorns in the sprinkler cooling off, and the dogs keeping an eye on things.
