Being in Texas, it gets hot here. A little too hot for rabbits if I want to keep them outside. I can make a small shed to house a buck and 2 does with some AC so I can keep my breeders.

I raise chickens for eggs and meat during the summer. Usually have 3 butcher dates (July, End of August, End of September). My question is, if I want to raise Rabbits for the winter meat (I like rabbit better than chicken) do I have to worry about diseases between the chickens and rabbits?

I don't believe so, theyre pretty different(mammal and bird) so I don't see too much of a chance of transmission. Maybe keep them about 10 feet away from each other as a buffer for anything, disease or other and of course keep everything clean and I reckon it will be fine.

We have our rabbit hutches set up next to the chicken coop. The chickens like to hang out under and around the hutches. Occasionally we've had rabbits escape the hutch, and I've found them quietly hopping around with the chickens. It's been several years and I've never had any problems with chickens or rabbits getting any type of strange illness. We're actually thinking of lowering the hutches and letting the bunnies out to share the chicken yard on a regular basis.
