I have a meat chicken and um it's my fave chicken but I heard sooooooooo many different things about them. I heard that they have leg problems and heart attacks and I heard that you have to eat them and that you do t have to eat them. So does any body know anything???????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :he

Well...nobody can FORCE you to eat it, but that is what they are bred for. Some people do keep meat birds longer than recommended, but imo- I think it's cruel. They get so big, so fast, and it's hard for them to get around after they get that old. I have never had one break a leg because of it's weight but they do waddle like it's a chore for them to even move. the last batch I butchered, they were 7 weeks old, huge, and I noticed fluid in the sac around most of their hearts. They would have died of heart attacks soon, no doubt. If you have qualms about eating it, give it to someone or sell it to someone who will.

Raise them differently. Make sure they have to stand up to eat and drink. Separate the food and liquids. Some people treat them like chickens and free range them. Ferment their food and it cuts down on a lot of the smell. I feed 2x daily as much as they can eat in 30 min. It also keeps you from filling the waterers so often.
