Meaties in the Morning!

Somehow, something reached in the tractor last night and pulled two of my meaties close enough to kill them. I have 1"x1" wire on the entire thing with a 15" skirt. Any ideas? I am thinking a racoon has paws small enough but am not sure. I am planning on putting out a can of cat food tonight with a light on an a 22 handy. I could be in for a long night. It depressed enough to go to the feed store and 5 turkey poults followed me home.

go back to the feed store and pick up a live trap there only around 30 bucks and then you wont have to stay up all nite and you can dispatch what ever it is in the morning. there good just to have around (trap).

Good thing Im full of advise because I woke up this morning and a skunk had gotten into my tractor and killed 10 birdsc of mine so guess what? out comes the trap so like I was sayingh its good to have one around. Im pretty frusterated and I def feel ya...more so than I did yesterday thats for sure.

Sorry about your losses. I did go out and pick up a couple traps. 1 larger than the other. So far, nothing.

I had my final weigh in today. I am at 49 days. Hens average is 6.2 lbs but my roos are averaging 8,0 lbs. I am happy with that weight and am still planning to process on Saturday. One of my Roos weighed in at 8.4 lbs. What a fatty!

Well, it took me 6 hours from start to finish but I completed my first batch of meaties today. Working alone is great but it does take a long time. The process went as hoped and I have 76 lbs. of home raised chicken for the freezer. It has been a very rewarding day. To boot, after I was completed with this task, I looked out the window and saw the gray fox that probably ate my 3 other meaties, so now he won't be bothering anyone elses chickens. That just made the day better. I have included some photos of today from set up to product.

They look great! What was your average weight? Did you make your own pucker or buy it?
