Medicated feed?

We now have a place to keep turkeys but there are free range chickens running all over the place and while I love the chickens I am a bit worried about black head. Should I feed medicated feed? And if so, when can we stop feeding it? Do they always have to have it or do they grow strong enough to resist or recover from black head?

The medication in medicated feed is not for the treatment or prevention of black head and will have no affect on it should your turkeys contract it.

That said, the presence of chickens in and of itself does not necessarily put your turkeys at increased risk of black head. If the black head is not in the soil, it's not in the soil. That's that. Try contacting your local extension to see if there is known presence in your area. It's no guarantee one way or the other, but it's a good start.
