WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO? I MEAN AS A TREAT SURE, BUT I DOUBT THEY WOULD DO MUCH WITH IT OTHER THAN COWER ON THE FAR SIDE OF THE PEN FROM IT (WITH THE LOOK ON THEIR FACES AS IF YOU JUST DROPPED A LETHAL PIT VIPER IN THERE WITH THEM) THEY ARE HATCHLINGS THEY SHOULD NOT NEED IT FOR DEWORMING YET. BUT AS A TREAT YOU COULD TRY IT, I WOULDNT LET THEM HAVE THE SEEDS THO.

I KNOW LOTS OF OLD TIMERS THAT AUTOMATICALLY GAVE IT TO NEW HATCH CHICKEN AND TURKEY CHICKS, BUT NEVER HAVE SEEN IT USED WITH GAMEBIRDS, AND I AM CURIOUS AS TO HOW EXACTLY ITS SUPPOSED TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT WORMS? PLEASE EDUCATE

NOW IF I COULD JUST REMEMBER WHAT IT WAS THAT I LEARNED???)

Basically it supports the immune system of the bird since it is full of vitamins, minerals and trace elements. It helps to lower the pH level in the stomach, helping digestion and making it a less friendly for harmful pathogens, such as worms. It detoxifies the blood and helps remove mucous from within the body, this is particularly useful since chickens are particularly prone to respiratory problems and Apple cider vinegar can be of benefit in helping birds to clear their airways. This is great for gamebirds as well for the immune system and effective as a wormer.

I was wondering because I read somewhere that someone gave pumpkin to their quail and wondered if it were as a medication or a treat.

Pumpkin seeds are a natural holistic anti parricide in HUMANS. Lets call them South American snacks! The flesh, skin or what ever is not only delicious, but nutritious to humans. As a matter of fact: Anything in the gourd/squash family are the most nutritious (Fruits) known to man. Collard greens and cabbage related "Brassica oleracea" are the second most nutritious "Vegetables". Add a protein, and you are working your way to a balanced diet.

Not sure how it all works out with birds, but when I eat those 2 things with a good dose of 30% protein game bird starter.... I just want to lay eggs, or strut my stuff.
