Me again. 3rd post now! :) I am going to run out today to make sure I have everything I need on hand in case of an emergency. I read lavender is good for topical wounds, and I saw that some people use a product called 'VetRx', but can someone kind of give me a shopping list for today?

Are you having problems with your chickens?
How old are they?

It's hard to know what you need...I like to keep poultry vitamins on hand - Poultry Cell or Poultry Nutri-Drench would be my choice.

VetRx - that's a "remedy" for respiratory illness - if your chickens don't have respiratory illness, then I would not get that.

Lavender? If you have a wound - plain triple antibiotic ointment will do the trick - you can pick up small tubes at the Dollar Store for $1.00.

Chickens don't need a lot - plain fresh water, fresh feed, fresh air.
I do advocate making poultry grit (crushed granite) available free choice at all times - chick sized grit for chicks and adult size for older chicks/adults.

Thanks! I just got them yesterday, no problems, other than breathing faster than normal. They are 3 days old, with 2 of them being a week old. 11 in total.

It is between 94-96F. I didn't time it, but it is breathing fairly quickly. It doesn't seemed distressed, and her mouth is closed.

You mean first aid box
I'm having Baytril , Doxycycline , Neomycin , Sulfadiazine , dewormer In my box
And some over the counter ointments and bandages with gloves .
It's good to have a first aid box for ur chickens

The whole brooder is 94-96F or just one spot? Chicks need only one warm spot in a brooder, the rest needs to remain cool - they need enough room to move away from heat. I haven't read all your threads, but I did pull your photo from one of them.
Can you provide a bigger space and make just one spot warm for them. They will overheat in that small tub with that much heat.

Water and food should be kept on the cool side.

I was wondering if any of you know where to get chicken antibiotics? Here in Texas all chicken meds have been pulled off the shelves
