Unfortunate event. Saturday was very windy, Grounder & Jazzy were in their outdoor run when a blast of wind flipped their run and send a cinder block smashing down on Grounders wing. He was pinned down by the tip of his wing. He feels swollen and I am not sure if its broken. Tuesday (tomorrow) he has a vet appointment to see whats up. I have him currently on meloxicam for pain and inflammation (his left over prescription from his eye surgery) he has been eating and drinking well but on coop rest although I did let his go for a short walk this afternoon becasue the weather was beautiful. I just love this crazy bird. ❤ glad to report his girlfriend Jazzy was unharmed but a little shook up over the event.View attachment 3454697
Poor guy. Boy, he has been through it in his little life. Keep us posted, and let us know how he's doing??

Update on Grounder .. He went to see his doctor and he was a very good boy. But his wing is swollen, bruised, broken and lacerations that are already healing. We tried to wrap his wing but it took him only 2 seconds to get it off. His doctor said his wing should heal pretty fast and since he already lives a pampered life to keep on doing what I am doing. He is to continue on his pain/anti-inflammatory meds and we showed the doc what a good boy he is getting his meds. I will add some poultry probiotics to his water for stress & meds ... Right now he is back with his girlfriend Jazzy and they are chilling poolside .

Aww, poor Grounder! Thank goodness you’ve trained him to take his meds and not be too stressed out by caring for him. Wind has been so crazy this past week, and we have another red flag warning day today!!!

Good news! I always like it when there's a happy ending. Healing happens but, all in all he's good to go! Happy for him. Thanks again for the update. He's a lucky boy to have a human that cares for him like that.

It's been awhile. Grounder is doing great. This is Jazzy and Grounders daytime coop. Grounder gets toted around in the carrier that's in front of the coop. It has been a long dry summer and downsized Jazzy's pool to save water.

Grounder has made it through the weekend. He is less active but still gets to walk about inside. He has a happy bird light on his coop, it turns on slowly like a sunrise and turns off like the sun is going down.
