Meet Monty My Mud Head!

So I was watching Monty Dons’ big dreams small spaces on Netflix because I have become a huge fan and in the one episode the lady decided she wanted a mud head. Contrary to Monty’s suggestions she made her mud head and since then I have always wanted one. I think they are just so magical. The inspiration was from the lost gardens of heligan. Well I finally had the mud as we got our fence put in a few months ago and needless to say I now have a mud head! In honor of Monty Don, I named him Monty the Mud Head!

His hair will be hostas and I will keep adding moss.

I’ll definitely keep updating photos as he grows they are pretty neat things, it’s odd more photos don’t show up in search results, I guess a lot of people don’t have them in their back yards. I just couldn’t help myself though!

The best part of it is our “dirt” is literally 25%or more clay so he should hold up really well. It’s not a surprising amount of dirt though, I had some large rocks that’s we’re taking up space that I used to form the bulk of his head and then covered it in dirt. I am so happy I finally got the opportunity to make him. I told my mom what I was doing thinking she’d think I was crazy and turns out she knew exactly what they were and wants to make one herself some day! I guess the apple didn’t fall far from the tree

About half of Monty is covered with moss now! I just keep stealing a little from here and there all over my yard lol. Gave him some eyebrows too!
