Meet My Beautiful Cuckoo Maran Chick

This little fella is honestly one of the best chickens I have ever had in my life. I got her/him at Ace one day when looking for Barred Rocks. I purchase it thinking they were a Barred Rock but I was quickly informed that they were in fact a Cuckoo Maran. I was a bit disappointed since I wanted to add a Barred Rock to my flock but I didn't let that stop me from falling in love with him/her. (I can't wait to find out if they're a hen or a rooster so I can finally give them a pronoun lol) It's the funniest and the sweetest chick I've ever had. I'm so glad I purchase him/her instead of purchasing a Barred Rock somewhere else like I was originally going to. Wish I could share some videos of him/her since I have some really good ones but I don't know if you can do them here. Anyways enjoy these pictures I've caught of my cutie doing cute things.

Very cute chick! I do believe you could post videos on BYC. I have a few barred rocks and they don’t look very different from your beautiful cuckoo maran. So, your not really missing out on anything. Does he/she have a name?

It's name was originally Johnny (i kinda have a feeling it's a roo) but I don't wanna name it something I'll change later if it turns out i was wrong. But yes I'm so glad I got him/her and I have fallin in love with the breed as a whole as well.

Thank you so much for letting me know that, now I can add some videos of the cutie as soon as I upload them to YouTube. I got him/her in late October which means he/she is about 7 weeks old at the most. I could be wrong lol. I'll have to go look back at the dates of some of the pictures I have.

She is SO cute! Yes, oops, I called him/her a pullet as if I know for sure... I don't, but I'm sticking with my original guess. I can tell ya' love 'er bunches. . So sweet!

I have some experience with Cuckoo Marans and I would wager its a pullet. I wouldn't bet the farm on it though.
