Wimp.Good morning everyone!! All animals are doing fine! I had rolled the parakeets into the shed and they have a heat light. We put Bunny in the shed in the chick brooder/any animal cage... and all the chickens really need is more warm water! Honestly.. if I had to do this day in and day out for weeks at a time I’m not sure I’d have any outside animals!![]()
NO! Well objectively, yes it is absolutely beautiful. But right now I am not feeling the beauty I am feeling the peril! The ice is beautiful isn't it!
I'm sorry all of this is such an issue for you. When I was young, we once had a 4 foot snow drift in front of our house. We had and ice storm and the drift froze solid. We then had thawing rains which then pooled in front of our house and flooded our finished basement because the drift acted as a water damn and would not let the water drain away from the house. These freezing snow things can be quite the hassel.NO! Well objectively, yes it is absolutely beautiful. But right now I am not feeling the beauty I am feeling the peril!
Lots of melting going on here, but the drain that drains the driveway is iced over so all the water is pooling and will freeze tonight and be very dangerous I fear.
But worse is my path to the Chicken Palace. This morning was quite an adventure because any grip I had before on the snow mountain is going as it gets soft so I kept sinking in. Up to about knee height in slippery slushy cold. My footprints are now all full of water and tonight they will freeze solid so it won't be safe to walk in them again.
I think what I am going to do is lay down some plywood boards and hope that by freezing to the wet snow they won't just slide away out from under me.
The things I do for my chickens!
Lots of lessons for next winter particularly about the whole snow plough operation.
All I can say, is Phyllis better be right about spring!

That sounds bad. I am so upset about it because it is all my fault. I should have prepared better. Last winter was such a non-event that I just didn't think.I'm sorry all of this is such an issue for you. When I was young, we once had a 4 foot snow drift in front of our house.
