Meet my Chick!

That sounds terrifying! I hope you get all fixed up soon.
Thank you! I just hate being out of commission so to speak... I’m a little OCD when it comes to my chores.. so I hate that some things might have to wait... like cutting the grass :barnie

I'm glad that you were not too badly hurt, getting right back on was the best thing to do! Things like that can happen so quickly! I was thrown off of a horse once, but my foot went through the stirrup (I wasn't wearing boots :he) & I was drug across a field until he stopped, I extricated my foot & forced myself to get back onto my saddle & rode him back in! I might never have ridden again if I hadn't done that! I was 12 or 13 at the time.
Oh my gosh! This is horrible! I know.. I hear all the horror stories and was just so determined to NEVER fall... which I know is ridiculous! And last night it kept replaying in my mind and I did think that exact thing.. what if one of my feet got hooked up! 😬 Freaks me out a bit! My daughter has never fallen and she has been doing this for much longer than me... but I rather me fall than her! I’m starting to rethink all of this and might entice her with a really nice car... which I know has it’s own risks but I’ve been driving for 32 years and never had a wreak.. been riding horses for 5 minutes and have already fallen😳... seems to me that the odds for accidents are much greater with horse riding!
Amazing at that age that you were able to get back on and ride him back!!

Is there a place close by, where you could board a horse?
Yes there is... that is the plan... if I can’t talk her out of it :p... we found this place awhile back so when we find a horse we are set...

Good morning WhoDat :frow Hoping you're not to sore today...:hugs
Mornin rj! I am pretty sore! But my leg isn’t bruised at all... which is surprising! My leg hurts the most and I have aches and pains all over.. taking Naproxen and Tylenol ..... thank you!

I'm glad it's not too bad and you are recovering. .

You shouldn't let falling scare you off. A life lived is full of risks. Say, like running off the road and flipping your convertible while driving maybe a little fast. (This has not happened to me but I won't say I don't make a calculation and accept some risk from time to time.) You need to do what you enjoy and be reasonable with the risk you accept. I don't ride horses but I know a lot of people who do. Every once in a while I hear of a fall but truly bad outcomes seem very rare.

I'm sorry you fell WhoDatChick but so thankful you had a helmet on. Please don't this fall scare you away from horses. These things happen at some point. I remember my grandfather always used to say "If you are around and ride horses long enough, its not IF you fall off, but WHEN you fall." My daughter has fallen off twice. The first time was when she was i think 7. She was riding a pony which to me are devils in disguise. All was going good until Peanut got bit by a horse fly. He turned into a bucking rodeo bronco. She was riding it out untill the girth broke and both her and the saddle went flying. She got up, called Peanut a idiot and climbed on bareback and rode 3 more laps before she got off. The few tears came after she put him up and was home. The 2nd fall was 2 months ago. She'd been riding Russ for a good hour and brought him in the yard for a breather. Again she was bareback, and as soon as they stopped he shook. I think sweat had gotten in his eyes. Well when he shook he shook her right off and she landed flat on her back. I swear she came off that horse laughing, and laid on the ground laughing for about 3 minutes with Russ looking down at her. His expression was "Why are you on the ground?" 5 minutes later after a helmet change she was right back on him and rode for another hour. Oh and thats another thing, your helmet, if you hit your head when you fell you need to replace it even if it appears to be intact. Besides a saddle collection which i've threatened to sell some of since Rosie prefers to ride bareback, I also have a couple helmets on hand.
