Hello!

I am a small hobby farmer in Nova Scotia. I recently rescued some unwanted chickens from a kijiji add. I have made a generous henhouse and pen for these birds. Five laying hens and a Polish Rooster.

Recently several hens became broody. I wanted to find a solution for watching on them while I was a work. Particularly, I wanted to be able to see when and if any chicks hatch.

I set up a webcam and realized that not only I could watch, but the whole world could too.

So, meet my chickens - watch them live at http://roostercam.blogspot.com

Enjoy!

PS: Make sure to leave them comments!

The camera is a D-Link 932 - and was about 100$. There's about 65$ worth of Cat5 cable and 14-2 electrical service, to get to the henhouse from the modem.

Tried relying on the wireless feature of the cam at first but the henhouse is made of sheet metal and pretty much acted as a large faraday cage and made the signal very weak. We upgraded to cat5 and now things run smoothly.

There ten chicks that have hatched - about a week old now.
