Meet my new tom

I pick this boy up on Thursday, The ladies will be so happy

handsome fellow! I can't decide whether I should get a young tom for my almost 2 year old Blue Slate hen. She has lived with chickens all her life since hatch, and to my knowledge has never seen another turkey with the exception of some wild ones who came into the field next door. She looked curious, and make a few "yelps", but they didn't pay any attention to her, and only stayed for a few hours one morning. They left sometime that afternoon. I'd like for her to have a buddy of her own kind, but I'm a bit hesitant to upset the apple cart too, because everything is so far, so good except for an occasional harsh peck from her when one of the chickens gets too close to the food she's eating, or is in a spot she prefers. Any thoughts on that? I loved your other turkey pix you posted recently!

Not enough experience to advise. I locked mine up for a few weeks before releasing and i will do the same with this fellow. They all seem to get along pretty good now but my current jake has jumped the fence a few times already. No problems with teh chickens except one hen that started by picking on a turkey hen. big mistake.
