Melanistics - and Silvers *update*

Good deal.

They reminded me of little bumble bees when they first arrived....little fuzzy fellers all black and yellow...

They're doing good, gettin' bigger.

Just a pic I took of one of the silvers standing in a water pan....

I had the chance to get a trio of silvers for $50.00. I still kick myself for not getting them but at the time I did not have a place to put them. Beautiful birds!! I hope you enjoy them.

My dad just gave me some Melanistic chicks and then told me to come back and get his adult birds! YAYY I am going to have 12 of them now!!!!!!!

I just noticed that the baby chicks have a crickett sound they make....anyone else notice that?

I love the sounds that the silvers are making.....

When they 'talk to each other' or whatever, they make this beep/meep sound that's like some little space alien or something...lol... And then they make sounds sometimes that sounds JUST LIKE a squeaky toy or something. lol

Pics are not anything too grand, not very close up.... Just thought I'd post some updated ones of the melanistics though....

When I moved them into their pen, a day or so later, one of them was missing..... They could fit through the wire, but the bottom is covered with chickenwire, so only higher up the sides or the top could they fit through, and I figured that wouldn't pose too much danger because they would have to be in flight to get through there and couldn't wiggle through....

But at some point one did, cause I came up missing one.... I just figured it was kaput since I didn't see it around at all. I figured maybe it'd have been nearby if it was still okay, and wouldn't have strayed too far from the others....

Tonight my nephew spotted one down in front of our house near the road where there's a strip of tall weeds. I went to look and sure enough it was the escapee. Too wild for me to catch it though....but it's still alive..... I counted the rest of the flock to make sure it wasn't someone else that had escaped, but they were all accounted for. lol

My escapee that I mentioned above is back in the pen with the rest of the flock again now.... The last few days she (I think it was a hen, so I'm glad she was okay and came back in!) had been coming around the pen trying to get back in.

While the others were penned in their shelter this morning, we left the outside pen door open a while and she came back and went in.
