Mentally off duck??

If I isolate her I'm afraid she'll just run into the wire over and over till she goes bald. I penned her this morning to make sure she got breakfast and a nice long drink. Then I let her out because she was walking into the wire.
When she first began limping after being trampled I had to carry her to and from her private night pen to the water. She eventually was able to walk but her limp kept her from foraging way out with the group. There was another duck that limped as well, but it shows no signs now.
I'll keep you updated. If the need comes to put her out of her misery, what's the best way to do it? She's fully grown.
If it comes to that do a search here on BYC for euthanize. There are a number of threads dealing with that subject. You can do the same as with a chicken but remember that ducks have longer and more flexible necks. I hope it does not need to be but that is a decision that only you can make. Best wishes.

Oh, sad to hear about your duck.. lot's of good advice from everyone. Is she the same size as the rest of her flock mates? Meaning, she could be lacking in vitamins. Because she's not eating enough. If its not from an injury it could be vitamin deficiency. That would be a easy fix. Can you post photo's?. Bless your heart, keep us posted.

They're all the same size except for the ones with curly tails. Being males they're bigger. It's darker now but I can try to get a pic tomorrow. She can keep up as long as they stay near the coops and watering bowls.

What are they eating? Did you supplement with nician as a duckling? How old is she?

They all eat a scratch feed and forage all day in the woods and grassy field.
They were born May 1.
Scratch and foraging is no where near a nutritional balance for domestic ducks. And if they are only 3-4 months old what did you feed them as ducklings (hatching to now)? She may very well have neurological damage and poor bone development due to bad nutrition if you were not feeding them a balanced commercial waterfowl diet or at least a chick feed with supplemental niacin.

She seems a little better today! :weee more on balance her eyes and notrils look fine. How do you look at a duck's ears??
