Since this post was done in 2011, I presume you have solved the problem, but this is for others reading the posts, too. I read vaccinate day 1, but a booster shot after about a month old. Perhaps that is where the confusion lies. If Merek's is not in your area, you are lucky, but it if is, there is a good chance of your hen dying.
