Merry Christmas Chickens! You made it through the worst storm in years and you deserve to celebrate!

They got suet cake made after this thread: suet, sunflower seeds, raisins corn and seed. I think they are having a very merry Christmas https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/homemade-suet-cake-for-poultry.77680/
Merry Christmas! Your chickens are beautiful! Mine made it through the storm well with 2 having minor frostbite on their combs. It was negative 36 most of the 4 days.

Thank you! Merry Christmas! Wow! you did a great job getting your chickens through that extreme! I’m sorry they got frostbite but considering your temps that is not bad. I hope they heal quick.

Your welcome! I felt like i could have did more. but i couldnt add a heat lamp because i put straw in the coop. I locked them in and made shre they had food and water, thats the best i could do. I hope they heal fast to.

Merry Christmas!!
Thx for the suet cake recipe link.
My ladies (and gent) survived with 2 minor frostbite. The run had fine snow blown in from every tiny place so the stayed in the coop. I used a radiant heater to bring temp to ave teens-20 F on super cold days.
They got scrambled eggs and canned tuna as treats, which they loved!!!
