Okay - I was hit by a predator last night who dined through the mesh - I'm so upset by this. What size of mesh would be ideal to keep fingers out (coons, skunks and whatever else)? I have only found 1" and 1/2".

Thanks!

What did it dine on......eggs or birds? I found the recent remains of a dead cat a couple hundred yards up the hill from my coop, but I already knew there were evil chicken killing creatures about. BTW, I am presently using 1" mesh on the run, 1/2" for the bottom of the coop, and the chickens are locked in and secure at night.

I am currently in the process of lining the bottom of my chain link kennel with hardware cloth. the holes are like 1/4 inch large I attach it with those little plastic ties that electricians? use. It looks pretty predator proof. it goes up about 2 feet. ErinM
