We have a chicken, 6 months old that has had a messy, butt for two weeks. She is smaller than the rest, but acts like a chicken!
Should we we just wash her off? Is there a problem?
Thank you!

Definitely wash her off completely.
What is the flock eating?
Do they have access to ground puddles to drink from?
Is the run muddy?
She may have worms. You can submit a combined sample for a fecal float at most vet offices to find out what they may have.

Great advice from @DobieLover !

Are the feathers all stained green and smell really bad? This could also be a yeast infection, Vent Gleet. She would need probiotics like daily yogurt or probiotics put in her water and the use if vaginal cream daily on and in the vent area. Washing the butt daily, drying it too.

A lot of white urate stained butt feathers can sometimes indicate Coccidiosis. Corid from your local feed store would fix this.
