Messy eggs?

Egg yolk plus I see another egg that has an obvious crack at the top of the photo, above the one that has a lot of yolk on it. That looks like either a peck mark or possibly a toenail, but my guess is peck mark given that there appears to be an egg eating issue.

Does anyone else get messy eggs?? Most days they are so clean or just have a little bit of poo on them but every once in a while all of the eggs are so nasty and I have to scrub them so hard to get it all off. And it’s not all poo either. Is this happening to anybody else or just me?

I get dirty eggs all the time. When it’s wet out there’s not much you can do to prevent it, as they track it in. But I really think the mulch in my run helps, and so does keeping the straw in the boxes clean.

Is mulch better than straw because I use straw all in the run and coop. They have a pretty big run and coop but they can’t free range due to all the predators. And the nest boxes are pretty clean.

The mulch helps keep the mud down in the run, it might work better than straw.
