Messy vent

2 of our hens have very messy bums
They poo fine looks normal, they act healthy, running around eating drinking etc.
But round the vent its like a constant stream of well..poo

When they have a dust bath it seems better but it comes back.
What is causing this?
I thought maybe it was worms but nothing seems to be in their poo?
Please help

I haven't had experience with this, but i wanted to give you a bump.

You might also search for other threads on pasty butt.

I remember reading something about too much sugar water or something, but like i said......no experience.

Pasty butt occurs with very young chicks (like under 2 weeks typically). Your girls COULD have a worm load; you wouldn't see it in their poo unless it was a heavy infestation. Can you give more info - what are you feeding, their ages, breeds, if laying age, are they currently laying and, if not, how long has it been since they stopped? What conditions are they kept in - what type of outdoor access if any, and what type of bedding do you use?

Maybe we could help more if we knew what they eat, including access to any free-range treats. A lot of plant have high concentrations of oils and other things that can cause messy vents, at this time of year, and layers sometimes stain in the next voiding after producing an egg.

OooOoo Sorry guys for the lack of info! >.<
Well both our around 2 years now we have had them for a year
And one very important piece of info is that both were ex battery hens (Although conditions weren't as bad as some pictures show)
They had a few bold patches but apart from that they were in pretty good condition.
I'm sure they didn't have this musty butt when we got them? I would of noticed sooner!
They are eating a pellet food which helps laying and gives them boosters in nutrition etc. They have had since we got them so I presume it isn't the food.
They have normal tap water luke warmish, they are laying at least pop is and she is the best egg layer we have Blossom on the other hand isn't such a good layer because she eats them! But she is a good layer besides that.
They have a big run attached to their shed, so they are free range, their are no sorts of plants in their run just grass really, I do give them quite a lot of treats, the ones a give in particular are: moist bread, corn, sunflower seeds, yogurt, mealworms.
Those our their favourites and the thing i give them most of it, but I don't over do it (They get something small once a day).
I really don't know why they a dirty bums, everything else seems fine apart from that. We have a 11 hens and their the only two that have it (and for a little while). So I really don't know?

I would worm them. See if that doesn't improve the condition. After worming, feed them a mash of their feed soaked with milk to help build the flora back up. You can also add unsweetened plain yogurt to the mash. Make it into a crumble using equal parts of feed/milk. Mine seem to love that, and it helps you see who is eating well.

Yeah we are going to worm them, going to try that pumpkin seed method first! Then if that doesn't to work going to see if we can get some verm-x?
And both seem to eat very well I mean VERY
