There was a metal shed on the property when we bought it 17 years ago.
It was old then but I am surprised at how well it is holding up.
About 10 years ago we converted it to a small coop to house additional bantams.
We cut out the whole back and put hardware cloth. We also made doors with hardware cloth.
I live in California and the coop never gets too hot or too cold.
But it does sit under the shade of a tree partially.
I put up shower curtains on the inside where the hardware cloth is and I close them if we are ever getting a big rain storm.
I remember it being over 105 and all the chickens did well. BUT, you have to have plenty of air flow and a run where they can get plenty of shade. I love this extra coop and have plans this year to add onto it for my ever growing obsession with chickens!
