Hi, we are very new to chickens, as in, our chicks aren't even being shipped until June 1st. We are going to convert a metal shed that is 8x10 into a 5x7 coop and storage area. The run will be attached and be between 60 and 70 sq. ft. The coop and run are close to the house and deck and does get shade. We ordered 6 chicks and after researching think that is going to be enough space for them. My question is this.... Is the metal shed going to be too hot for them in the summer. We are putting ventilation across the top on 3 sides and one of the sides is going to be mostly wire with a half wall. I'm just concerned about July and August. I was careful to order heat hardy chicks. We live in northwest Georgia and summers get very hot.
Thanks,
Amy
