Many questions in my head:

The galvanized metal waterers:

Safe? I mean: does the galvanization leach into the water? I've heard of issues with galvanization on roofing and metal screens and garbage cans.

How about older waterers?

Rust forming on the inside. Get a new one?

How many days can I leave the water in it safely before changing? (Small flock here, cool temperatures for now.)

Water quality in general?

The plastic waterers:

Traces of chemicals leaching in? Especially in the heat?

Plastic harbors more bacteria: do you notice more troubles in warm weather?

Water quality in general?

What are your observations? Preferences? Do your practices change based on the size of your flock/s?

HATED the plastic waterers! They break down alot faster than metal ones.

I'd prefer metal waterers over plastic, even both of them are at risk at chemicals but I don't worry about it as long my flock is fine.

If you are wanting to do daily water chores, then get a shallow bucket.
