I just thought I would provide some comment on an order I placed with metzer Farms.

We were interested in adding Buff American Geese to the madness, and placed an order online.

Now, we all know it is important to order at least 8 goslings to protect them during shipping.

We ordered two pairs of Buffs and two pairs of Roman Tufted. I know, seems like chicken math applies to geese as well.

Anyhoot, we awaited the delivery date, and got the call from the PO.

Got the birds home and we had received 2 pairs of Buff and only 2 males Romans. OH NO.........

A quick call to Metzers, and the mix up was fixed straight away. One week later and we got the 2 Roman girls that were missing.

They provided a perfect example for others to follow by putting SERVICE into thier customer service.

I am very pleased in how things worked out, and just wanted to say kudos for a job well done.

Hoping to be a happy Metzer farms customer soon! Back in March I had placed an order for a Sebastopol pair, for the May 31 hatch (wanted to get one of the last dates because had a lot going on with sick family members). Got a call that they didn't have the numbers laying that they expected, so no geese for me. I understood completely, I know these things happen... my chickens don't lay on command either.

I was a little disappointed because I knew I wouldn't be able to get some til next year, but life goes on.

But just got a phone call on Thursday that some of their birds had started laying again, and they would have limited numbers for a June 13th hatch... "and oh by the way, are you still interested in a pair?" YES, OMG YES!!!! My first geese will soon be on their way!!!!! (I have chicken and duck experience, but these will be my first goslings!!!)

(Okay... can you tell by the overabundance of exclamation points that I'm excited?)

I'm so happy that you get your geese -- I'd have been so sad if ours didn't come! They must not be having a good laying year -- we ordered 8 American Buff geese and only got 4 in our first batch. When I called them, I think they wanted to refund me, but I really wanted the other 4, so they went ahead and sent them in a couple weeks out of another hatch. Either demand was high, or the geese weren't laying as much I guess. Both of our orders came on Wednesday - 2 days after hatching.

Metzer is THE BEST. He and his family run a top notch operation. Part of the goose demand may have had to do with a lost shipment due to unseasonal heat here in Cali. They are catching up on lost orders due to a truck breakdown and loss of all babies (thousands, supposedly.). Be patient, and enjoy Metzer.
