Yesterday, I placed an order for 2 goslings from Metzer Farms! I decided on getting 2 females; 1 Buff, 1 African. I might even look for an adult gander in the future, assuming these 2 are good. They’re set to ship out June 17th. This is my first time ordering from Metzer, so I’m quite nervous, but I’m trusting they’ll arrive safety :fl

I’ve asked this question before, but I figured I’d ask it again; What’s something you think people should know before getting goslings / geese? Aside from standard care, of course :)

I don't know anything about geese, but want to congratulate you on your first geese! I hope all go's well!

I am about to order 2 African females from Metzer! So glad not to be alone. I have a large brooder box under an overhang. It's kind of dark there and away from my ducks, chickens, and bachelor goose. Will that be an issue for the little girls?

Congratulations! Might I ask why you chose two different breeds?

As long as it’s not very / completely dark, I’d think that’d be okay.
It was warm here when I got my babies, so I let them outside supervised often and allowed them to see my other birds. They moved outside to their coop at 4 weeks old.

I was originally going to get 2 Africans, but then I fell in love with the Buffs as well. I debated on which to get for a while before realizing I could get 1 of each.

After they arrived, I worried that it was a bad decision, but it ended up working out beautifully. My 2 girls love each other very much :)
