I was offered some Mexican Speckled Quail from a friend the other day...her dad breeds them for eggs...and I don't know anything about them. She said I could come pick out some for free. I have read about other types of quail, but does anyone know anything about these guys? I would be interested in keeping some for pets/eggs. Should I pick up a few?

They are a color variation of bobwhite. So pretty much any info on bobwhites would pretain tot hem as well. I've been trying to get MS eggs for awhile and the taste of the meat is really good.

lol if their free take them if all's not fine then eat a good meal!

Thanks a lot for the information! I'm going to talk to her about those quail soon. They are really pretty looking birds! I guess I have absolutely no reason whatsoever not to get some quail. lol

^^ No worries. Just wondering if there was anything in particular should know about them.

Not that I neeeeded encouragement to get more birds.......

Says you are near KCK, where abouts? My office is located in Lenexa and we do science shows throughout the KC area.

Lophura, I'm only about 30 minutes west from Lenexa, and I spend a lot of time over there. Where do you do your science shows? I'm quite familiar with most of the area.

Where will you keep them if you get them? Aren't you currently housing chickens and ducks in your bedoom in small pens?
