Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I was thinking the little colorful striped one above the chipmunk one was the GLW, maybe it's an Easter Egger?
Congrats on all the babies!! So sorry about the Campine though.
How is the CW now? It seems like a lot of us had trouble with the CW's. Hope she is doing better.
I'm no help with figuring out breeds. The only ones I could tell are the ones you know. The little brown one you pictured last looked like
my Partridge Plymouth Rock that died early on. And everything with stripes on it's back looks like an EE to me so I'm no help.
BUT they are all absolutely adorable!!!!!

Sorry I'm not quoting your pics. It's late and I don't want to scroll back. My first thought seeing the little brown one was that it was a gold laced something. It looks a lot like our gold laced polish did. Also don't write off the blue rare breeds (hamburg, andalusian, and orpington) for the splash and extra black since they don't breed true and you ordered both the andalusian and rare breed.
Sorry about your campine. That's the one we lost right away too. I hope the rest make it!

I had a Golden Laced Polish before too, all of you are right. She does look like the Polish I had, but without the top hat. It will be interesting to see which one the blue splash ends up being.

I think I will have to wait on a few of the black ones to feather out more before I figure out what breeds.

No matter what they are, they are so darn cute!

I finally got 4 eggs in one day! I kept getting 2 or 3 but finally 4 today

Lynn- how are the babies today?
Yay for 4 eggs!

We're waiting for a 4 egg day too. I have 5 that are squatting, but so far just 3 eggs a day. I know of 3 of them for sure that are laying, but if Pepper the BR is laying, her and Big Mama must be trading off days. Olivia the EE has laid an egg I think 7 days straight now. Didn't know EE's could do that, she most be crossed with a leghorn.
How is everyone Lynn, the cw make it thru the night?
All the chicks are doing well and the little CW seems to be one of the most active and healthy ones. She still does a somersault here and there and runs so fast she seems to lose track of where she is going. Maybe she had a little too much of vitamins and electrolytes. Must be like a Red Bull in large doses.

I am enjoying watching them, it is so hard to count 16 chicks though, they move so fast.

I did figure out that I did not get my 2nd leghorn, so I have no idea what they gave me instead. I have 2 with the brown leghorn coloring but one has some puffy cheeks like an EE. I love the EE's so I don't mind.

I'll take more pics of those cute little fluff balls over the weekend.

Somebody is getting chicks next week, right?

Yeah! We're getting 2 a day regularly now but I can't wait until we have more than that!

I put more shavings in the nest boxes to try to prevent cracked eggs but found another one the other day. I think the second chicken to go in there moves it around when she's making the nest right for her. Why do they always have to lay in the same box? *eye roll*

7 days in a row from Olivia- that's impressive! Glad they are all doing well and the CW is better. Can't wait til we figure out exactly what you have!!

I know... I have 5 nest boxes and all 4 eggs were in the same box today! I was thinking about putting a little curtain up in front of a few of the boxes. The other chickens always hover around and stare at the one laying. So weird. Maybe they want a little privacy and maybe they'll try another box if it's more private? Just an experiment I was going to try.
Does anyone use them? I found the cutest mini garden flag that is just the right size. If it works I saw some cute chicken ones on ebay I'll have to get!

I'd kill for a 1 egg day lol, thought I heard the egg song yesterday but they were just being loud.

Trsturself- how is Amber?

Lynn- yup I should be getting 8 chicks and 3 ducks next week!! I'm SOOO excited! I've been waiting since April so I'm def glad its almost over. I'm glad the cw is doing better. I bet your having a blast watching the babies.

lol soon enough you'll have multiple egg days!

I don't know. I haven't gotten a chance to talk to my daughter about her today, she's been off with friends most of the day. I talked to my husband for a minute and he said he brought her out with him while he was watering the garden and said she tried to go with the other chickens back into their yard. I'm thinking maybe I'll make a saddle for her to keep the flies off and keep the other girls from picking on her, and let her out more often. She is still moving very slowly and gingerly but I think she misses being out with her flock. I haven't heard about bad smells coming from her and her back looks like it's healing. I just hate being too optimistic and then have her go down hill all of the sudden so I'm still preparing myself for the worst even though it seems like she's doing better than expected with such severe injuries.

Have to share.... As you may (or may not) remember, we have 25 meat birds from Meyer out at a farm. We split their care with my friend (the one who jumped in with Amber). She takes care of them in the morning then we go and put them up at night. This has been fairly easy because we had them contained to a small pen outside of their coop. All you had to do was refill their food dish or water and they all went running inside. But my husband went out tonight (without my daughter) to put them up and our friend had let them into the larger pasture area (roughly 30x30ft). We have to have them up before 8pm says the lady who owns the farm so he was there before their bodies were telling them it was bed time. He said they only had a little food left but our friend hadn't left any to refill it so all he had was water. He put one waterer down while he hung the other one up and he said they all rushed in and drank then ran back out before he got done hanging the other waterer so he didn't have a chance to shut the door behind them. Can you imagine trying to corral 25 5week old chicks in an area that large by yourself!? He was not happy. Poor guy. I felt so bad. I'm lucky to have such a great husband! Lol!
