Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Lynn that egg is huge! Post a pic when you crack it open. Where did you get clear egg cartons? I like them! I wanna get the egg skelter for the kitchen counter but I'm afraid my kitten will think they are balls and I'm gonna come home to busted eggs all over the kitchen.
I saved it from when we used to buy eggs at the store, so long ago....Ha, ha, more like 3 weeks ago. My grown sons have been bringing me cartons too. I think that carton was from some organic eggs from the grocery store.

Pip: They look so pretty and big! I am so glad that one of mine looks like a Partridge Rock, yours are so beautiful!

Tomorrow all my babies ship! I'm all ready all I have to do is have my husband put sand in there tomorrow while he is off cause I'm not about to lug a 50lb bag of wet sand thru the house. That's what they are here for anyway right, heavy lifting and to build chick coops?! lol
WooHoooo!! Keep us posted

They have clear egg cartons on eBay but they're pricey. I know someone that bought the little 'six pack' of clear egg cartons and I love them. She had to buy tons of them though and I'm sure they were expensive. She's in Maine until Sept so when she's back I will ask her where she got them and let you know if it's a bargain or expensive.
I had to look up what a skelter was. I had no idea those things had a name!! I love them. No cat here so maybe I'll get one

Love the red ones.

MsChickenMama: Here is my jumbo egg in the egg carton. The new BR egg is the tiny light one on the top right. This carton is pretty flexible, so it actually fit, I was surprised. It was not easy to close though.

trsturself: Please post pictures when you crack that 2.9 ounce egg, gotta see that.

I'll be sure to do the same.
LOL.... oh my goodness .... your poor EE!!!! I hope she takes a few days off!

I'll try to post a pic of our large egg tomorrow. My daughter won't let me crack it yet because it's our only blue one.
Thanks for the leghorn photo. I'm thinking that's what our meal maker might be. It's at our friends house though because I thought it was a male so we were going to put it with the meat birds, but it is WAY smaller. I haven't seen it in a couple weeks though so I'm only going by what my friend says. I'll try to get a pic of it this week sometime.

Well my sultan and blrw didn't hatch so I'm I'm getting a speckled sussex and ee instead. Hopefully everyone makes it, anyone else getting babies this week?

Here are my chicks at 1 week old, it wasn't easy but I think I got everyone's picture:

We've named a few for now and will name more once we know which kind each one is.

Chick 1: Looks like a single comb, probably our BA or CM

Chick 2: Looks like a single comb, probably our BA or CM

Chick 3: Maybe a rose comb, possibly Dominique or Blue Hamburg, wings mostly black coming in. Guess one of the rare breeds.

Chick 4: The comb looks like a pea comb, this is the one we thought was a Partridge Rock, I think she may just be another EE. Her cheeks are a little puffy too. (so maybe a rare one)

Chick 4

Chick 5: Golden Laced Wyandotte (Third try finally got one!!)- "Lacie"

Chick 6: EE

Chick 7 - Light Brown Leghorn - "Izzie"

Chick 8: going back and forth, if rose comb a Buckeye, if single a Golden Buff, comb is too small to tell right now. (Either a Meal Maker or rare breed)

Chick 8

Chick 9: A Blue Splash something. Has a single comb and clean legs so another Blue Andulasian or a Blue Orpington maybe? Her name is "Splash" (one of the rare breeds)

Chick 9

Chick 10: Blue Andulasian - "Andi"

Chick 11: Welsummer- maybe a bantam or just small - "Tiny"

Chick 12: Salmon Faverolle - "Sally"

Chick 13: Golden Buff Polish- "Buffy"

Chick 13

Chick 14: Columbian Wyandotte - "Dottie"

Chick 15: Golden Campine- "Campi"

Chick 16: on left brown EE next to Chick 4 that may be another EE

Chick 16 & 4 again

Chick 4 with what looks like a pea comb

Chick 2 on left and Chick 1 on right- think both have single combs, so ones the BA and ones the Cuckoo Maran. Not sure which is which, Nancy do you have any idea? I think you had one of each.

I've never seen a BA with a white dot on it's head, I thought that meant it was Barred. Are you sure they're not both CM?

Lynn:

Chick 1 and 2 are barred or cuckoo something, so I'd wager you got two Cuckoo Marans. Plain black birds will not have that spot.

If chick 3 is rose combed then I would assume she is a black chick from the Blue Hamburgs. If she has a white spot on her head like chick 1 and 2, she is a Dominique. If she's single combed, that's your Australorp.

Chick 4, I see the fuzzy face now. Easter-egger for sure.

Chick 5, 6, and 7 I think you have right.

Chick 8, is she feathering in white? Red sexlink if so. The Buckeyes and Rhodies should feather in brown to start.

Chick 9 and 10 I think are both Andalusians, a blue and a splash, but you'd really have to wait until they're older to know for sure.

Chick 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, and 16 look like you've guessed correctly. :)

:fl Hoping for the best for your chicks, KBH!

Well I already got a tracking # for the chicks just waiting on the ducks now. Lynn everyone is so cute! I'm jealous I want a welsummer and congrats on the golden laced Wyandotte! Also the only place I can find the clear cartons are really expensive and I don't like them that much lol I just have my family and friends saving their cartons for me. I already said if you want eggs I better see some cartons.
