Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

We lost our little meal maker over night, she seemed the healthiest and was fine at my midnight check. I don't know what happened. :( Then this morning I am fighting hard to save one of the Faverolles. She has gone totally limp on me two times and started gasping for air. I started rubbing on her and somehow both times I didn't lose her. I am trying to be optimistic but I just don't know if she will pull through.

For those of you who lost chicks, did you call over two chicks or just let it go? Wondering if I should call or not.
Poohb- congrats on the new chicks & welcome! I got a couple shipments this week also. I totally agree with you btw, go big or go home. Sadly my husband doesn't agree also.

Mine doesnt exactly know how many I got.....he didn't ask either

Sorry for the loss. Have you put any electrolytes in their water? You can also give them a bit of wet cat food. I have read that it will help bring weak/sick chicks around. We loss 1 and I reported it. If you report your losses within the time frame they will credit your account or refund the money.

Yes, I do have the electrolytes. The sick one left isn't even standing on her own. I don't know if I can get her to eat but I will try the wet cat food

Hi, hope you don't mind if I join you. I just got my first shipment from Meyer today. 3 Black Frizzle Cochin, 5 Salmon Faverolle ,3 Buff Brahma, 2 Light Brahma , 2 Golden Laced Wyandotte and a Meyer meal maker. I was very happy to see that they all arrived alive and seem to be very active and healthy. I have another shipment coming in 2 weeks. 5 EE, 2 Jersey Giant, 5 Buff orpintons, 2 barred rock and another meal maker. Go big or go home right

.

All I have right now is one lonesome silkie roo after all of my 20 hens were killed by something that broke into the coop a few months ago.

I was too upset to start over until now, we are working on making the coop impossible, or as close to impossible as we can for something to get in. I can't lose my whole flock again, it was terrible. All of these new fluffies certainly do help my heart though.

I can't wait to see if my 3 frizzles end up with frizzed feathers! Hopefully within the next week I will know.

Welcome aboard... and congrats on the new chicks! Can't wait to see if you got frizzles.
I'm so sorry about losing your whole flock. That must have been awful. I have galvanized fencing around my run and it sits on the ground 3 feet inside the run and 3 feet outside then covered by stone and sand. So a fox or dog would have to dig down about a foot and then 6 feet to get inside the run. So far so good!

So i guess it's a good thing I have the worst problem sleeping cause I've had to check on the EE every hour or so to make sure she is eating and drinking. Plus my frizzle has had pasty butt. My hubby named the EE heather, that seems to be his lil buddy now. He even told me today to add another one to my sep order & my bday order for next year! I about fell over when he said that:lol:
ooohhhh, I wish my dh would say that!!!! 2 more orders for you - LUCKY you!!!!!

6 eggs is great, a dozen every 2 days! Are you giving them away yet?

Thanks for the advice on the 2 little ones, I think everyone is right then. I did not know about the leg color. I am worried though that one may be a rooster since they do stand so different. I was lucky with my 1st and 2nd orders with not getting roos, so I guess it may be time.

The eggs are still pretty small in general except for my BR and one of my RIR's so I haven't given many away yet but this weekend I am visiting someone and I have a dozen for her!

Don't worry about how the BR or CM stands, you can really tell by the comb in a few weeks. They will grow big early on if it's a roo. And since you have 2 you will be able to compare which is always helpful.

Nancy I was SHOCKED he said that lol. & I kinda told him for my bday I was ordering some chicks for next year, I didn't give him the option to say no. I just got a look. But they open up ordering for next year in nov and my bday is in nov so it worked out perfectly! Then I saw they have a nov 4th hatch day, which is my bday so I'm trying hard not order ducks instead for thy day.

Lynn isn't it great when they fall into our traps  I was hoping he would fall in love
Are your EEs friendly?

We lost the little faverolle :-(. I tried my best. That's the hardest thing about new chicks
I think you wait until the time frame to call and just call about all at the same time. I can't remember if it is 2 or 3 days. We lost one last week, but we also had an extra one that we did not order, so I did not bother to call.

So sorry for your losses, I hope that the rest do well.

Meyer likes to have people report when they have losses. It helps them know how good they are doing. We lost one in our order and they really appreciated it when we called to let them know. They also want you to call 48 hours after your chicks arrive to report the losses.
