Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I think Lilly laid her first egg today! :celebrate The space between her pelvic bones is almost three fingers, and there was a large brown egg in the nest box that had a tiny bit of blood on it. I have noticed she has been squatting for my rooster and when I picked her up yesterday she felt really heavy. Her comb is still small, but definitely bigger than the last picture of her I posted. I'm going to try and get some pictures of the girls tomorrow.

@RoostersCrow,HensDeliver! I think my girls will be going to a family friend. She lives a bit closer and that way we can buy eggs from her and not have to substitute with store eggs. :sick

Thank you for the interest though. :hugs

I will try and take some pics this weekend. I recieved one female barnvelder from Meyers, she is pretty.I also have a roo from a breeder, was hoping he was going to be a pullet but I was thinking about hatching some of there eggs out next spring.

I'm so glad you found a good home for your chickens!

So, I've been thinking our Cochin has been laying for at least a week now because we were getting another large egg that was kind of different than the others. But then yesterday I found a small dark brown really round egg on the ground that isn't like any of our others. Then another today on the floor of the coop. They have to be her's because the only chickens we're still waiting to lay all lay white eggs (polish). These chickens! I think I'm going to have to stop recording our eggs per chicken and just do a daily count. It's getting too hard to keep them straight! So we have 5 chickens laying but still a max of 4 eggs in one day.

We are going to get more chickens next spring. I think we'll do hatching eggs though. I hope we have a broody hen but if not I'm going to make an incubator out of an old cooler.

That is WONDERFUL! I'm so happy for you, that you will be able to see your girls regularly. And still being able to get eggs from your girls, very cool.

Thanks! :D Sorry again that it didn't work out for you or your mother to take them.

I can't keep track of each individual chicken either. It's way too much work! The only chicken I keep track of is Sunni. The rest I keep track of the eggs I get daily.

Do you know which breeds you will get in the Spring? If the city council decides to allow backyard chickens, I will definitely be ordering from Meyer again next year some time. I'm not sure which breeds I'll get though. I really want some bantams, but I don't want to risk getting boys. Maybe I'll get them from MyPetChicken. They would still be from Meyer that way. ;)

But out of 3 bantams from meyer only got1 roo.if that wasn't planned lol

I would order from McMurray or Ideal, but I would only be allowed to have maybe a minimum of 3 hens in the city we are moving to (if I can ever even have them there). McMurray and Ideal's minimum for orders is set too high for that. :/ Unless I could find someone to split an order with, but that's unlikely.
