Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Oh boy... 4 more chickens in the house!!! My DH would freak for sure :)
I took my heated waterer back since it didn't work and was debating between just a heated dog dish or the galvanized heater to put under my galvanized waterer and went with the 2nd option. I thought the dog bowl looked easy to use but I think my girls will get it filthy. They get their regular waterers full of sand and they're elevated or hanging so I didn't want to spend almost $60 to be unhappy with it. Maybe I'll look on ebay to find a cheap one.

I have a really cheap solution for a heated waterer during winter!
Get an 8-10ft section of heat tape, the kind that's used to keep manufactured homes underbelly pipes from freezing. The heat tape is wrapped around the metal jacket of the chicken waterer, duct taped on, wrapped with vet wrap as an insulator, and ducted taped from bottom to top as waterproofing. I have thermostat control on mine, so it shuts off at a certain temp. I'll post a picture of it tomorrow when I get a chance. It only costs a penny or two a day to run and it just gets plugged into a regular electrical socket.

I looked at this to cover my pipes for my nipple waterer, but we'd have to run an extension cord out to it. Might look into it in the future though.

You lost me at 8-10ft section... LOL. That's like reading spanish to me! If you can get a pic maybe I can understand. No rush :)

My Amber was in the nest box this morning, so I'm really hoping I'll get to see her first egg before she goes to her new home. She's the last of my nine Meyer girls that need to lay their first egg.

Your girls are beautiful, LynnEBC. I have 2 silver laced Wyandottes , now I just need some gold laced ones

Thank you! Oh I love the SLW's too and I wanted one of those with my last order, but they did not have any for that hatch date. We had one that lived up to around 17 to 18 weeks old, she was one of the ones that was killed in the dog attack. She was beautiful, all the wyandottes are such pretty birds. That's great that you have two!

I could not imagine, 4 chickens in the house. I might be single if I tried that.

@RoostersCrow,HensDeliver! How are you chickens doing? Are the ones with Fowl Pox improving?

@LynnEBC Your girls are so beautiful!! I love Big Mama. She is so big and beautiful. Daffodil is about that same size, just not quite as fat.

Sunni is MUCH smaller than Daffodil. The two of them were standing next to each other last week, and Sunni is a lot shorter and not nearly as long. Sunni is also darker than Daffodil. Maybe she's a mix? Or it might be because she spent 3 months of her life on a liquid diet. I love how unique all of your EE's are! Hopefully you'll get lots of green eggs from them.

My girls (and boy) are all going to their new home on Wednesday. I have a lot that I need do before than. The lady they are going to wants everything. The feeders, the doors on the coop, the roosts, the metal feed bins, the fencing, the stall mats, etc. So tomorrow I have to spend the day getting it all cleaned up. It'll give me a good reason to spend the day with the chickens.

Thank you. Big Mama is a beautiful girl, The only problem is she has such a fluffy rear and it is always getting a poopy rear, so I try to take a picture from the side or front. I imagine Sunni's growth was stunted due to the trauma she went through and lack of nutrients. So glad she survived though, and all because of you and your mom. I really hope for green or blue eggs.

That seems so soon, already they go on Wednesday? That is great that she is taking everything, so hopefully they will not have too much trouble adjusting to the new home. So glad that you do not have to split them up too. Take advantage of your time with them. Plus you can visit too? That's awesome. You know how to make the best of a situation, that will get you far in life.

They are all better FINALLY!

And I'm getting 5 eggs a day now! Most of my girls have really big red combs now and hopefully by mid December they will all be laying.
Yay, that's great! So glad they're all better! I look forward to your future egg announcements for those first time layers.

Hopefully she will grant your request and show you that first egg before she leaves.

Will you be able to easily check in on all of them? Hope so.

Lynn- Your girls are beautiful!! Honestly, I don't want to single any out because they are all so pretty... Daisy is very regal looking, Love Buffy and your EE's too!!! My CM looks more like Cuckoo- not at much white - Zany is pretty with more white! I hope they lay a dark egg for you. I have 2 BA's and one is very big and the other is pretty average size. My big one is very friendly and is one of the few who lets me pick her up and seems happy about it. She sure can scream loud when it's time to lay an egg though!! LOL
That's a cute pic of the DH with Pepper and Oreo... I love catching the husbands being attentive to the chickens!!
I'm curious if Olivia starts to lay for you again... my green layer sure isn't :(
You Welsummer looks like a Brown Leghorn... could she have some in there?
The editor does not always carry over the replies I want to respond to:

Thank you! Daisy is a pretty girl and looks almost as fat as Big Mama now. I think the CM's should have less white on them from the pictures I have seen before I ordered mine. I guess I ended up with one of the big BA's.

Maybe the Welsummer's are a cross? Not sure. She is really confusing me. But those earlobes, I need to try to get a close up picture, it is weird that they look almost a mint green. I guess I have a few chickens to watch for proper breed egg color. The EE's, Marans and the Welsummer.

I have some horrible news, my dog which has been doing a good job of guarding the flock has gone rogue and killed half of the flock.

I have 3 that are injured and patched them up as good as I could and 3 that are ok, traumatized but ok. I couldn't believe it when I came home from work yesterday. She will be going to a new home hopefully this weekend. I could not find 2 of them, there was no trace at all. I was so upset that I have been crying ever since it happened.
