. 12 more days for my babies (hopefully)
So exciting!!!!!

I just placed an order w/ Meyer. So excited! Everything I wanted was avail this week, and should be here Weds or Thursday!! :)
I have placed an order with Meyer before.. the birds were all friendly, I think 1 out of 25 was a roo, and the "marans" were not perfect breed standard, but good healthy birds.

Yippee! What did you order? And post pics!

1 blue crested polish
1 asst polish
1 light brahma
1 partridge cochin
2 rare marans collection
2 Olive eggers
7 "rare egg layer assortment"
1 meal maker

So has anyone ever ordered from Meyer and combined 2 orders together.. I requester that my nieces 7 chicks be marked so that I could tell them apart from my chicks. Has anyone ever ordered 2 people's chicks and had them marked so that you could tell who was supposed to get which chicks ?
I am picking up an order for my friend and I in late April. It started out as one order but after realizing we would have to pick through trying to decided who was whose I called and had it split into 2 orders :) I did know they could mark them, though. I will be dropping off her order at her house right after I pick them up, so I opted to just have them boxed seperate

No, some of the marans eggs in my bator could have been from a Meyer Maran I have a few of them but also have some from breeders. Olive eggers were crossed from breeder birds

Megan at Meyers told me that they had no method for marking the chicks. My friend and I combined an order. We had a little difficulty figuring out whose was whose, and had to coordinate a "great chicken swap" about a week later because she had my speckled sussex and I had her easter egger. Megan at Meyers was helpful because we emailed pictures to her, and she quickly helped to identify. I am hoping they implement an identification system in the future, but as a whole, we managed. I was happy that I did not have to order the minimum number myself, because that was more birds that I was ready for!

Our little one looks a lot like that too, except she has more splash to her. I tried to get a pic of her and she wouldn't sit still. Does that answer your question? lol I did finally corral her long enough to get a shot. It's below.

Here are some of the meyer rare breed assortment chicks. They are now 3 weeks old.

Out enjoying some sunshine.

Partridge Cochin - we have 3 of these

White cochin - we have 2 of these

I think this might be a Lakenvelder, it has spots on it's head.

Here is the one I think is a splash andalusian

Ancona

This one isn't from Meyer but I love her! This is one of our 4 bantam white frizzle cochins. She is the most feathered.

Our bantam blue easter egger that looks like a blue americauna

Buff laced polish

These are the 2 chicks from this group that we are keeping. 1 meyer and 1 non-meyer. Snowflake in the back and Gilfrey in the front (bantam EE).
Sounds like an Andulasion to me. I had a regular blue Andulasion in the same batch and they acted just the same. My splash one is more friendly and will fly up on your arm if you hold it out. Here is my oldest son (24 yrs old) demonstrating. He was impressed with Splash when he came to visit. Our splash is mostly white with the splash of blue more near her tail feathers and lightly throughout, yours will probably be more multi-colored then mine, which will look really neat.

After looking at yours I'm sure mine is a Andalusia. Thank you! Yes she is very active and loves to jump and fly. She does her best not to be caught when we do catch her she calms right down. Thank you for sharing.
No problem. One problem we have with ours too is that she flies out of free range areas and up in trees. The other Andulasion and Golden Campine are just as bad. I love both breeds but I really worry they'll fly out and a dog will get them.
Thought I'd share a pic of my daughter and her favorite chicken, Amber, from today.

Cute! I have read about that but have never tried it. Cute girl too!

I originally had ordered for March 31 hatch date, but I looked this morning under available for this week, and everything on my order was available this week, so I called and asked if I could switch it to this week. They said they had a better than average hatch this week, and lots of extras! So now I should be getting my chickies soon!
