Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

I got a new green egg layer
wee.gif
So I got 4 green eggs today, 2 small and 2 regular sized, and since I only have 1 EE and 2 CCL laying green I must have another one! I'm glad they all laid the same day so I know for sure there are 4 of them! So I'm waiting on eggs from my 2 Cream Brabanters, 1 EE and either crowing or an egg from my Silkie. I still have no idea what she/he is except so cute and petite :)

4 green egg layers?!! That's great!! Congrats!!

Andi seems to be doing much better. I think maybe she is just the lowest flock member and since she is molting she can't fly as well. She was always up high in the run and I just thought she liked being up high. Now that she can't she is on the ground more and everyone is picking on her. When I inspected her rear she was getting in new feathers and it did not look too bad at all. Usually when she was laying it looked messy with poop, but it's clean now. Maybe since she is not laying? She is out of the coop a lot more so maybe the Nustock helped a little. I guess once she is done molting and back to laying eggs we'll see how she does.

Ok friends, help me out here. I could be just paranoid because the Delaware turned out to be a roo but I think I am seeing signs of maleness in a few others.. What do you think? columbian wyandotte (not the blue is bluekote, this one got bullied a bit. she has a tendency to want to hide under others when they want nothing to do with her.) partridge cochin light brahma I so hope I am wrong about these.
How old are they?

I sold Izzy and she is now living a whopping 3 miles away!! It was a rough drop off and I'm nervous about contacting her to see how the first day went but I'll let you know.

My 21 week old EE is singing the egg song, squatting, huge comb but nothing yet so should be soon! There was a little pile of goop on the poop board so maybe that was from her... not sure. And my Meyer RIR is back to laying after over a month of molting so it's nice to have her dark brown eggs back. It seemed like as soon as I started giving them more protein (fish, pork chops and hamburger) that got the laying going. But with the price of meat I can't do that all the time!

So good that you found a home for Izzy. Is the 21 week old the one that laid the green egg, the new one? I am so confused and behind on posts.
Those hawks are so scary! My neighbor just told me hawk migration here is the next week so lots of the small birds go into hiding. My girls will be more at risk but I only free range 1 hr./day and I'm out there with them. But not all the hawks migrate so we still have them around all fall and winter. I didn't free range last winter and with less leaves on the trees I would think it is much more dangerous for them. I'll have to just see what it's like.

A friend of ours had a chicken carried away by a hawk recently and another one decapitated by one, so scary. The one that was carried away was dropped a little later and survived okay.

Brag away!!! Congratulations... is it going to be granny, grand mom, grand, grammy, mom-mom or something else?? Such a great ultrasound... Can we guess sex?? I say boy!! That's wonderful you get to go to the visit... I never even thought of bringing my MIL... but she would have been a nervous wreck so that wouldn't have gone well anyway

And someday you will be sitting at the computer and showing him/her the Meyer website saying "pick anything you want... granny will get it for you!!!"

Thank you, sorry for the late reply. I missed this somehow. I will be called Grandma or Taita (pronounced Tay ta) I am thinking boy, but we'll know for sure soon. Her next ultrasound is in a few weeks and we find out then. My mother-in-law is in Lebanon, so she never came to mine either. Oh yeah, for sure he/she will get to pick anything, plus maybe I can try hatching, use the grandchildren as excuses!

Oh wow, they are still so young and still cheeping. Very cute chicks and nice video. Look for some regular clucking and comb redness and growth in the next month or so. You're going to have a lot of eggs! Love those curious Dominiques and BR's.

OMG! Blue egg alert

We got a blue soft shelled egg broke on the coop floor Sunday and then we got this yesterday.

Here it is next to all the eggs we got yesterday, first day of more than 3 eggs. The blue one was 40 grams, not sure which girl is laying it yet.

From left to right here is a list of who laid what.

Pepper -BR, CInnamon - RIR, Delaware, Dark Cornish, Delaware and the EE.
Congrats on the blue egg. I am so jealous! I love your variety of colors. Lucky you!

Lovely hens! Great pics!

Your CW looks like my 2 did when they were younger and they were both girls. They were/are lower in the pecking order too.

Good luck, I hope they are all hens!

Pfew! That is a relief.

I hate to say I think the light brahma is a roo. That comb is just too much. My five week old LB already has curly tail feathers and has the longest and thickest legs ever! I think mine's a roo too.
Oh I hope not. I keep comparing it to my buff Brahma hen. The legs are the same, the only diff is the comb is a little darker and the there are some pointy feathers (not as much as my other roos but enough to worry me) But then I tell myself that all the buff ones have paler combs and waddles. So I don't knooooowww. Lunkhead is such a sweetie, too.

Still trying to find a home for the Delaware from this hatch and the SL Cochin from last year. I swear I have NO luck with laced or white chickens!

Hey, y'all, I see I've missed a lot here! Sorry I haven't posted for a while. I went through a bit of a rough patch just as the semester started and pretty much just stuck around BYC for my state thread. Anyway, I got some pictures of the flock today and thought I'd share a few pics of the Meyer girls in the bunch. :)

These girls are about 2 years old:

Frou-Frou, my beloved splash Marans. :love

Elda the Silver Gray Dorking, such a pretty young lady! :love

Elly again, having some snuggles. :love I crouched to take a picture of something and she came right over.

Elda snuggling while Kit-kit waits her turn. :love I love these Dorkings, definitely a must-have for pet flocks!

I'll probably have more pictures of the babies to post on Thursday or Friday for their 4-month-old 'hatchday'. :)

Well my Silkie gender mystery is solved. Coco declared himself a rooster quite early, but Brownie was being shy about his/her gender...until today....

TANDEM CROWING...2 ROOSTERS.

My son is never picking out chickens again! I have the ad up here & on craigslist to rehome both of them. I was on the fence about 1 rooster that I can legally keep, but no way am I keeping 2! They both need to go!!!
