That is amazing.

We had an Easter-egger named Maddie who looked just like your girl! (She was not from Meyer, though.)
Wow, really? My husband gave her that name because she always looked mad as a little chick. So your Maddie was a girl? Hope so...we're hoping our Maddie is a hen.

All my Meyers BR girls are happy and healthy still . 3.5 weeks now . Growing fast!! I had a list of names for them all BUT . They all look so much alike ... I can't tell them apart! One or two maybe . and im not positive its the same two all the time lol the rest are just " the girls" LOL! . Good thing I just ordered some Meyers duckies so those I can name haha here they are today

She looks girly to me. :) I believe my mom named our Maddie after the Maduro wrapped cigars that my dad gets occasionally.

BarredRockGirls, if I can't tell my girls apart, I will use those little zip ties that come in different colors on their legs. You have to check them regularly to make sure they aren't getting too small, though. You'll probably find that by the time they start really maturing, their combs will be different enough that you can tell them by that. :)

And just for fun, here's Fancy, one of my Meyer Partridge Rocks, modelling her zip tie at 6 weeks old. She absolutely refused to wear the pink bands, but would wear just about any other color. In this picture, blue was all the rage:

LOL. That's why I only have one of each breed at the moment. I wanted to know who was who! Now, with that being said, I have eggs in the incubator and unless I accidentally kill them all before hatch (which is a real possiblity since I seem to drop one every time I pick one up!), I will have more than one of each breed. I think I will simply name every breed the same name ... hmmm, all the Welsummers will be Welly, all the BJG will be Snookie, all the cochins will be .... you get the picture.

Nancy - How's little Sweet Pea doing?
Thanks for asking...

She eats and drinks and poops as much as the others but she constantly picks at her vent area. Always reaching around and pulling at the fuzz around there. I just bought some Neosporin and will try that on it tonight. I put some on there when I first got her but I just noticed it has pain relief in it which I heard is a no-no (oops). So maybe the area is sore or itchy? But I have seen her poo just fine and there's no pasty butt. Just always picking. And she's still so small! I was starting to wonder if she was a bantam by mistake!

Neosporin with pain relief should be fine to use as long as it's not a -caine type of pain reliever, like lidocaine or benzocaine (it should say on the label). :)

Keep an eye on her for any more problems. My speckled Sussex, Iddy Biddy, was much smaller than her broodmates (and still is). Her outer toes are curled now and she grew up to have some roosterish features (slightly sickle-shaped tail feathers, a pretty big comb early on, and the occasional crow). She lays an egg almost every day, though, so I know she wasn't an 'accidental rooster'.

Our CW, Fred, is just now starting to catch up in size to the others, but is still smaller. Maybe it's a breed difference too. Who knows? My 1st time with chickens, so just an observation of my flock.
