My first chickens actually came from a farm and we suspect that they tried to dump a bunch of roosters on us because we literally only got one hen from that lot. We have gotten most of our birds from TSC, as well as a few from one of my mom's coworkers who decided she didn't want chickens after all. My Sebrights came from a swap meet, and they will be the last adult birds I ever add to my flock (just my personal preference). And then in 2011 we got some barred Plymouth Rocks and 'Americanas' (Easter-eggers) from a very local, Amish-run hatchery.

I don't think I will ever go back to feed store chicks, mostly because I've found that feed store chicks are a lot harder to tame than straight-from-hatchery chicks. As Meyer's is the only hatchery in driving distance with so many different breeds available, and I have had two good experiences with them so far, I think that they will have my business for the foreseeable future.

I wish that we had a reliable place near us, before I get more, I will check around. That's so great you can just drive to Meyers.

Ellie one of my EE's is growing in a beautiful orange and black beard!!

My Meyer Babies also a week old as of last Monday...could use some helping IDing the breeds as they are all from assortments.Oy! :) Fryze, whatever the brown chick in your photo is, I have a few of those. Any idea of breed? I can provide photos of any of the little buggers as needed. Any help appreciated. TIA

All the black & yellow chicks have feathered feet. The gold with the patterned wings are clean legged.

I know the EEs since they have green legs, the rest? Three are solid brown with darker heads?

My Cochin hen TitoFluffadoted 14 chicks - 5 have feathered legs and extra toes (Faverolles)
Anyone who can tell me if the patterned wing chicks might be Delawares? And the all yellow with yellow wings?

The little girl with white wing feathers is a white leghorn, not sure what the chipmunk colored one is

blue laced red wyndotte I think (not sure why they would give me 5 of these babies in the pan fry bargin since they are rare)
