I don't think they are boring at all Nancy. Yours was the first one I saw and I thought she was very cute and I was gonna get a BR but when I realized the cuckoo produced the darker brown eggs I was sold. I'm trying to go for a colorful egg basket. Feel free to add pics of your beautiful lady's! ESP the cuckoo

I got my first egg from my Rhode Island Red, Ash today!!!!!!!!!!


It was great since today was just full of pouring rain and flooding. I even moved my chickens inside for fear of their coop getting under water, but the waters went down and I put them back out a few hours later. Here is the creek behind our house, you can see why I was worried.

I got my first egg from my Rhode Island Red, Ash today!!!!!!!!!!


It was great since today was just full of pouring rain and flooding. I even moved my chickens inside for fear of their coop getting under water, but the waters went down and I put them back out a few hours later. Here is the creek behind our house, you can see why I was worried.

Glad everything is ok. I do not miss midwest weather at all. I grew up with a creek like that behind my house.

Oh no... Our landlord hired a different guy to mow our lawn, and he sprayed weed killer all over the driveway, the barn, and the garage! By the time we found out he was spraying weed killer he was already finished. It was Roundup weed killer. I closed up all of the chickens for now until I can find out if it's safe.

My chickens spend all day picking through the gravel driveway for grit, and I have a few hens who love to eat the grass around the barn and garage. He sprayed the weed killer about an hour ago. I'm really afraid to let any of them out. Is it okay to? I started a thread to see what some other people on BYC thought and nobody is responding. :/

That's what I was thinking... I don't know how I'm ever going to keep my chickens closed up. The only response I got on the thread I made was that I had to keep them closed up for 1-2 weeks. Oh boy...
