Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

Here is our EE's double yolker egg, it was yummy! I went out today and Oreo laid her 2nd egg and it looks like a double yolker too! This is her egg from two days ago compared to the giant one today. I thought it was my other BR laying these light eggs, but I caught her today. She is laying her eggs in the hardest corner to get to underneath the roosts. I put a big cement block there to hopefully encourage her to lay somewhere else.

I think the splash bird is your Ameraucana. I see two Blue Coppers, a Splash, and something either barred or cuckoo in your pictures. The picture I quoted is the barred/cuckoo chick. As far as leg color, it will change to slate as she grows.

I'm having some feather picking issues going on with my girls. It started with Lizzie my Golden Campine breaking one of her feathers. Then the other girls saw the little feather nub and thought it was a bug, so they've been pulling out her tail feathers and breaking them for the past 5 days. I separated Lizzie and put her in a cage until her feathers grow back, an then I had to separate Lucy the other Campine because she started pulling out her sisters feathers and EATING them! So now I have two girls in cages, and I'm trying to get the other girls to leave each other alone.

What is a good way to stop feather picking? Does anyone know? All I can think of is separating the pickers and the ones being picked on.

I got my Meyers babies tonight. I ordered 2 Blue Copper Marans pullets and 1 blue ameraucana pullet. They surprised me with an extra, but an extra what? Its obviously splash and it looks like an ameraucana, but it has pink legs?

So cute, glad they made it.

Typically feather picking occurs when they are bored and/or crowded (not saying this is your situation). Get some Blukote and put it on the picked areas, it is a antifungal that dyes the area blue. Put some things in their area to keep them busy....frozen treats, veggies, flock blocks....anything they like to keep them from going at each other. As for eating feathers...Usually that is an indicator that they are missing something in their diets. Since feathers are mostly protein check and make sure that their food has enough and supplement anything you feel is missing.

I'm not sure if it's a protein deficiency, or boredom. They were outside running around when the feather picking started. I have them on DuMor grower/finisher right now. If it is a deficiency, I'm not sure what they are missing. :/

I hung a cabbage in the coop to try and keep them busy for a while. They just need to stop being scared of it and start picking at it.

Where can you buy Blukote? I might need to look into getting that.

Everyone arrived this morning!! The ducks seem fine and all the chicks but the EE seem to be doing good. The EE looks like she has wry neck so I've separated her with the frizzle(he looked a lil weak but is doing much better but he is SOOO tiny everyone is pushing him around) and I mixed them up some grogel, chick starter, water and a lil pinch of sugar. She still has lil fits where she puts he head back and sprawls hers legs out and flips on her back. But it last like 2 mins then she is in the food and water bowl eating and drinking. Any tips would be GREATLY appreciated!

Btw I will post pics soon, I've just fallen way behind on morning chores for the other animals so when I'm done I will post them.

Thx everyone. Unfortunately my leghorn passed in my arms this evening. So sad. I tried the vitamins and electrolyte in the water even with a dropper. I felt so helpless, my first loss. I have a RIR, EE,, Salmon faverolle and meal maker left. They are drinking and eating fine.

I always heard boredom and protein issues too. Sounds more like the protein problem. Tractor Supply has their version of Blue Kote in the horse section, that's where I got mine. It looks more purple then blue when sprayed. I hope you can resolve the problem.

Yay!!! So happy for you!!! Do you have any electrolytes? That really turned my wry neck chick around. I think there is a homemade solution on BYC somewhere too, if you do not have any. Hope they recover okay. Did you get everything that you ordered?

Yea I have electrolytes I got the grogel plus b. I'm hoping she makes it. I mixed the grogel with chick starter water and a lil pinch of sugar. My frizzle and black silkie seemed weak but once they got some grogel in them they perked right up. I did get everyone I ordered tho. The blue Swedish duck keeps grabbing the others bills and I'm worried about that cause the welsh already has a scrap from the Swedish grabbing her
