Meyer Hatchery Chicken pics anyone??

One of my husbands teacher has a ton of land with a ton of animals and every kind of poultry you could imagine so he is pretty sure she would take some. And if I have to get rid of nugget I'm sure his breeder will take him back cause of his coloring. He almost didnt want to sell him to me cause he said that was the first brown silkie he has ever had. And he also didnt have any buff silkies and very few black so I think he would take them if they turn out to be male. I thought about having my husband build a bachelor pad for them but no matter were I put them on our property they will see the girls so I don't think that would work
You're very lucky. My TSC has a bulletin board where you can post things like roo's to re-home etc and rarely does someone want them.
Over the week end we got 2duck eggs our first not sure who layed them we have blue sewed and rouen. We got from tsc during chick days
Yay... do they lay in nesting boxes like chickens? Obviously I know nothing about ducks.

Hey all....Just gotta brag. One of our duckie girls finally laid an egg today!!

Had a feeling it would happen anytime, they had been surfing with each other A LOT lately and they were very interested in the nest boxes.
Congrats... would love to see the duck egg and the one who laid it! Is it a lot bigger than a chicken egg?

2 DOA and 1 that is really really weak. Hoping for the best, going to go get some electrolites out to her. Any other tips. She seems to be having a really hard time standing or walking like her legs aren't strong enough.
5 doa this time :-(
So sorry for all the losses today. I swear by Nutri drench and I've heard it's good even for adult birds if they are sick or hurt. I hope the rest are doing ok.

I love Nutri-Drench. It saved Sunni and one of my adult hens who took a turn for the worst for a while this Summer. It helps give them the nutrition and energy they need to heal, with fast results. I use it any time my girls are sick.

No, I have no idea which one is the meal maker but none look to be polish.

I've got one little EE that isn't doing very well. I am really hoping that I can save her.

I'm sorry, I hope she can pull thru. Please keep us updated

(Forgot to quote--this is a reply to kbh. )

She does have a reddish tint to her comb, but I'm wavering back toward pullet for my little Margie as well. :D After looking at dozens of pictures of Silkies at around the same age, I feel somewhat reassured. The cockerels that had similar combs and wattles to Margaret's already had streamers in their crests, so... :fl

I have never had a problem with the feed going bad being stored in the feed shed, but if I leave any out and it gets rained on, it molds like there's no tomorrow!

Frou'f's last known egg was not terribly dark, but darker than all of my other brown egg layers' eggs. I have been getting some medium-sized eggs that are considerably darker than the rest, but I haven't actually seen who has been laying them. It could be her, but then I have never seen her use the boxes, so I don't know. They aren't that really dark, chocolate brown, though, more of a chocolate milk brown. :) And yeah, I have a few pictures like that! Where's Frou-Frou?

I still think pullet. I had to toss a bag of feed cause I left it against my freezer and it got moldy in no time so I wasn't sure if it would do the same in the barn. Lol that's the perfect where's Frou Frou pic!

OK silkie people, roo or pullet on this 10week old?

I wanna say pullet. Can you get a better pic of her comb? I don't see streamers tho which is a good sign!

Lynn- yea I have a 5ft ball python named Casper. He is prob bigger now tho cause its been over 6 months since I measured him.

The little EE is shivering but the temp is a little above 98. She drinks if I dip her nose. What else can I do? I've had to rescue her from her side and back a few times

Nancy that's what I told my husband! There is someone down the road from use who has had a roosters for sale sign out for over 5 years

What I did with heather was mix chick starter with electrolytes and mixed it when the chick starter was moist and took a little bit at a time and try and open her mouth (I used a tooth pick but sniped the sharp end off) and put a little in at a time. I did that every 2 hours

I would probably try electrolytes (either for chickens, or pedialyte for human babies). Mix in liquid baby vitamins with no iron and liquid vitamin E if you have them (like the treatment for wry neck). Then use an eyedropper to drop a few drops (maybe 4 drops, not much) in her mouth. Be CAREFUL when doing this because she can drown if it goes down the wrong way. Then just let her sleep for a few hours, then another few drops. She probably needs sleep more than anything. I would not try to force chick starter at this point.
